Oh What A Night! Toronto FC Game
I’m no soccer or football guru. I ran around as a little kid, scored on my own net, got the participation trophey, after that my soccer knowledge has come from the screaming people during the world cup’s and shalion soccer;
But man, last night was something else. First let’s set the expectation level;
My conceirge guy @ work sent out a note about FC tickets a couple months ago. I figured why not. I love Toronto and should support the teams (I say that, having never been to a Leaf game, they don’t need my support and I can’t afford the tickets). My guy had tickets for Montreal and Vancouver. Vancouver was on Canada day @ 1pm so we figure we’d see Montreal. Nice 7pm start, I work down the street. Five minute drive.
I pick up the tickets. They say first row. I’m thinking something is wrong. I mean they are $80 tickets, but first row. Maybe over a hot dog vendor who’s umbrella is in our face, seriously. But first row anywhere is fun, get to up you feet on the rail, usually have a good view of something.
We get there, walk thru gate 4. There is no-one lined up. Gate 1-3 have hundreds of people lined up. Im thinking my guy screwed me. These are fake. We get in. We walked thru the Rogers Club. Leather Sofa’s, Buffet style food, Free gitz tables. We are crapping ourselves at this point. We could just sit here and watch the game on the TV’s, this is cool. We go to the lady to find our seats. The people in front of us, she says ‘ten rows up on your left’. I give her my ticket, she smiles and shes go ahead. We walk all the way down to the first row and we are dead centre! Me and my friend start laughing and yelling our heads off. Probably the best seats in the house.

Game was great, but being in those seats fueled by beer watching snails crawl would have been exciting.
It apparently was a championship match for a Canadian Cup. So the draw got Montreal the cup, cool. We were so close that we were heckling the Montreal coach, everytime he yell to his players we would yell the opposite to them and being that close you know they can hear you.
They have a cool thing to do when an opposing team has a corner kick, the fans shower him with confeit and stringers to distract him. I thought that was interesting.
At one point during halftime a camera man was setting up to get a shot of the players coming back on the team and a player who had come out for an early warm up kick a ball towards the sideline. We actaully had to yell heads up to the camera man and the people on the sideline. He got out of the way got his camera didn’t. The mic and camera are now seperate and they aren’t supposed to be.
We had an unbelievable time, I don’t think I stopped smiling all night. Not an experience we will soon forgot.
